There are five major sub-series in the Architectural History series. Sub-series 1 contains research and reference materials on sites, plantations, districts, demolished structures, tract boundaries, wards, buildings, businesses, streets, gardens, monuments, ethnic groups, villages, disasters, parks and squares, architectural style and property transfers in the greater Savannah area. Many photographs and maps are also included. Sub-series 2 contains information on Savannah buildings, arranged by street address. (Cont.) Sub-series 3 contains information on WCH's involvement in the architectural preservation movement in Savannah. Included in this series are articles, correspondence, reports and notes which document the formative years of Historic Savannah Foundation, Inc. There is also documentation regarding associative groups such as; Savannah Restoration, Inc., Citizens Advisory commission, Downtown Revitalization Committee, Downtown Neighborhood Association, the Historic Sites and Monuments Commission, and the Revolutionary Battle Park, Inc. (Cont.) Sub-series 4 includes drafts of a proposed book on Savannah architecture (written 1938-1942), written by WCH and David McCord Wright. Sub-series 5 contains information on many of the architects, builders, contractors, artisans and craftsmen who have worked in Georgia.
